Prepare the big day: the album, the poster and the QR code
On the day, your guests will have a single thing to do: scan a QR code and pick their photos. Everything else is prepared beforehand, in a few minutes.
Create the album
The album takes thirty seconds to create, with no account, from the Create an album page. Only the event name is required. Two optional fields will still help you:
- the date: you get a reminder two days before to print the poster, then a message the day after and three days later;
- your email: it sends you "Your album is ready", with the link to your host space, the guest link and the poster.
You also choose a colour among six shades (navy, burgundy, deep green, slate blue, terracotta, deep gold) and a language, English or French, which the poster, the slideshow and the emails follow.
Your host space
Once the album is created, you land in your host space. Its address is secret: it is what gives you control of the album. Without an email, there is no way to send it back to you; you can add one later from the host space.
A one-minute guided tour shows you where everything is. Take it: on the night of the party, you will not have time to look for a button. An account is not required, but once you are signed in, "My album" takes you straight back to its space, from any device.
Two settings to decide
- Moderation. In Soft mode (the default), the obvious is blocked, anything doubtful is sent to you, the rest goes live. In Free mode, the analysis only removes the obvious. Strict mode, included in the Complete and Pro plans, publishes nothing without your approval.
- The gallery. Open by default, it shows each guest the others' photos. Closed, each guest only sees what they sent. You always see everything.
The poster and the QR code
The poster is A4: the title in the album colour, the QR code, three steps (Scan the code, Choose your photos, Done!) and the address written out, "No app, no account". It prints from your browser.
The QR code can also be downloaded on its own as a high-definition PNG (1024 px), to add to an invitation, a menu, a table sign or a screen.
Place the QR code and announce it
Guests should come across it without looking: at the entrance, on the tables, near the bar and the dance floor. Then one sentence is enough, in the invitation, a speech or from the DJ: "Scan the code on your table, your photos come straight to us. No app to install."
If you project the slideshow, the announcement almost makes itself: see The live slideshow and messages.
Test, then the checklist
A few days before, ask one or two relatives to scan the printed poster and send a photo and a short video. They can then remove what they sent from the thank-you page. A weak network slows uploads without losing them: an interrupted upload resumes on its own, with no duplicates.
- D-7: create the album with the date and your email, take the guided tour, choose moderation and the gallery, check your plan on the pricing table if you want the guestbook or the message wall.
- D-2: print the posters, run the test, brief the person making the announcement.
- On the day: put the posters up, start the slideshow before guests arrive, keep your host space open on your phone.
After the party, the guide After the event explains how to collect the photos. For a wedding, see also wedding photos.
