The live slideshow and messages during the party
A screen that shows the evening's photos as they come in changes the mood of a party: guests see themselves, and send their own to get their turn. Here is how to set it up, adjust it and stay in control.
What the slideshow does
The slideshow is included in every plan, the free one included. Every photo sent appears on it by itself, within seconds, without reloading. New photos jump ahead: whoever just sent one quickly sees it on screen.
Black background, a fade between images, videos played without sound so they do not drown out the music. Whatever moderation sets aside never appears.
Set it up and adjust it
The slideshow opens from your host space, in a browser, on a TV, a computer or a projector. A laptop connected to the screen is the simplest: you keep a keyboard at hand. If the gallery is open, your guests can also show it on their phone.
The control bar fades away on its own after three seconds. It offers previous, pause and next, the speed (3, 6, 10, 15 or 20 seconds, 6 by default), the title shown or hidden, full screen and, if your plan includes it, the Messages button. On the keyboard: the arrow keys, Space, F, M and T.
Before the evening, plug the laptop into the mains, turn off sleep mode and notifications, and start the slideshow before guests arrive, with the QR code displayed near the screen.
The message wall
Included in the Complete and Pro plans (see the pricing table), it adds a banner at the bottom of the slideshow. It is off by default: you turn it on in the settings.
Guests write from their phone, on the upload page or the thank-you page: an optional first name and 140 characters at most. No links are accepted, misleading characters are removed, and the pace is limited (a few messages per device, then one per minute). Each message, signed with the first name, changes every eight seconds; a new one goes up straight away.
Stay in control
In your host space, an emergency cut button empties the banner on every screen immediately and blocks new messages. "Bring the wall back" puts it back into service. Keep your host space open on your phone so it is within reach.
The moderation mode applies to photos and messages alike. In Soft mode (the default), the obvious is blocked, anything doubtful is sent to you, the rest goes live. In Strict mode (Complete and Pro), nothing appears without your approval, which needs someone available during the evening.
If an analysis service is unavailable, the content waits for you: it is never published or rejected automatically.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to reload the page when new photos arrive?
No. Approved photos appear on their own within seconds.
Are the wall messages kept after the party?
Yes, approved messages are part of the HD archive. For longer words, the guestbook is a better fit.
What if the venue's connection drops?
Guests' uploads resume on their own when the network comes back, with no duplicates. Preparing the venue is covered in Prepare the big day.
