Collecting the photos of a christening
A christening or naming ceremony brings several generations together around a little one. The godfather films, grandma photographs, the cousins snap away, and by evening the parents have almost nothing. Here is how to gather it all without anyone installing anything, while staying in control of who sees your child's photos.
Just one thing to explain
Everyone scans a QR code: the page opens in the phone's browser, with no app and no account, with one button to choose photos and another to take one. Photos and videos land in a single album, in their original quality, iPhone HEIC files included.
Before the christening: create the album
- Create the album on the album creation page. Only the name is required: "Louise's christening". The date triggers a reminder to print the poster two days before, and your email sends you the link to your host space.
- Print the A4 poster, or download the QR code alone as a high-resolution PNG for the announcement card, the menu or a table card.
- Put the link in your reminder message: those who could not come can send photos too, as long as the album accepts uploads.
During the ceremony, phones take pictures; it is at lunch, seated, that guests send them. So put the QR code on the tables. If the signal is weak, uploads resume on their own, without duplicates. More in the guide to preparing your album.
Helping the grandparents
- Ask a grandchild to scan the QR code with them and pick the photos from the camera roll.
- Reassure them: no account, no password, no app.
- The first name is optional, but it signs the photo: "Photo sent by Granny Jean".
- Mistakes can be undone: the thank-you page lets guests remove their own uploads.
Staying in control of who sees the photos
- The gallery can be closed in the settings. Closed, each guest sees only their own uploads, and you see everything.
- The album is never indexed by search engines. But anyone with the QR code or the link can upload, and see the gallery if it is open: do not post it on a public social network.
- Display copies are stripped of metadata, GPS location included; the original stays intact.
- Hosted by OVHcloud in France: the photos never leave the European Union. No advertising, no resale, no use to train AI.
All the details are in the guide to album privacy.
Which plan for a christening
- Discovery (€0): 20 visible media; beyond that, uploads are set aside until you move to a paid plan. 14 days of hosting included.
- Essential (€19, one-off): unlimited media, and the originals go to your Google Photos or Apple Photos library. Often the right choice.
- Complete (€79, one-off): adds a guestbook where godparents and grandparents write a note for the child, the message wall, the HD archive and one year of hosting.
Full refund as long as the album has not been used. Compare in the pricing table.
After the christening
Close the album to new uploads (you can reopen it), then, depending on the plan, export the originals to your library, prepare the HD archive or send the gallery link to the family. With Google Photos, restart the upload if photos arrive afterwards.
The guide after the event covers each option.

What about a naming ceremony?
It works the same way: one album, one QR code, and the family sends its photos.
Can family abroad take part?
Yes, with the album link. Albums exist in French and English, and the language can be changed in the settings.
